My Birthday Brunch

I haven’t done a proper birthday celebration in years, so this year I thought why not?!

It was a beautiful warm Sunday morning at Garden State where I invited some of my closest and dearest for brunch to celebrate turning 24! For this occasion, I decided to wear one of my favorite pieces that I bought a few months ago from Zara. The moment I spotted this unique piece, I knew I had to have it. I saw myself wearing it for at least the next 5 years, and that justified the splurge, as it was one of those expensive items at Zara.

Below this embroidered piece, I wore a sports bra from Victoria’s Secret. Yes you read that right, a sports bra! I didn’t own any black cropped top, so I said to myself why not wear a sports bra instead. I was lucky with the weather, so I wasn’t feeling cold at all with this combination

This birthday was really special, I was surrounded with amazing people who took really good care of me for the past week. I also want to dedicate a special thank you to my dearest school friends and my partner for being there for at least the past decade, you are the best!

What do you think of this birthday outfit? How would you pair it?

Best Places to Find Unique Chokers

I know, I’ve been an extremely bad blogger lately! To be honest, I won’t use my busy work schedule as an excuse, I’ve just been out of ideas and uninspired for the past couple of months. BUT, today I am coming back with a topic that I thoroughly enjoy!

For the past year or so, I’ve been obsessed with chokers. I rarely style anything without throwing a choker, and after that moment, I feel my outfit is complete. It all started with that 90’s tattoo choker, and after that I started buying more and more designs

In today’s post, I will be listing a few of my favorite places where you can find unique and cool chokers because let’s face it, this trend is not going away anytime soon!

1- Zara

Zara is my hands down favorite place to find chokers. Every time I go there, I discover that they released a new pack of chokers, and I get this urge to buy more. They just have the coolest designs for fair prices, and they usually have 2-3 chokers per pack which makes it a good deal

2- Vanina

Vanina is a Lebanese jewelry brand with lots of super cool designs. If you’re looking for a choker with an edge for a special occasion, then Vanina is your place to go. I am not sure about their exact prices, but I am guessing you pay for what you get in terms of design and attention to details

3- Trichellas

Trichellas is one of the Lebanese brands that I discovered on Instagram. I fell in love with all their simple yet edgy chokers to the extend that I instantly ordered 3 pieces! The chokers that you find on this Instagram page are the ones that you can wear on a daily basis (layered or single), and the best part is that they are budget friendly with superb quality. 4- HRH Collection

If you’re looking for dainty layered chokers then HRH is the brand for you! I started noticing this international brand on YouTube since many YouTubers were given part of the brand’s collection as a gift. I couldn’t help but love the layering of the necklaces, it adds so much elegance to your overall look, yet keeping the edgy factor

Work Wardrobe Inspiration

Sometimes, choosing your “outfit of the day” can be stressful and time consuming. Not meaning to sound shallow, but when you’re in the working world, looking your best is always necessary especially if you have important meetings or events.

I’ve made it a habit to always scan my closet the night before just to have a general idea on what to wear to work the next day. This will only save some time the next morning and make my life much easier.

Truth is, you don’t need to go shopping for new items every time you have an important meeting or an event. You can always incorporate items that you have in your closet in a new way. I usually love to wear statement jewelry or a hat.

In this post, I am featuring my everyday work look, when I want to feel comfortable and warm while looking stylish and decent at the same time. I recently spotted this scarf at Zara after searching for it for more than 2 months. The best part? it was on SALE!! 😀 I really love chunky scarves because they can add a beautiful touch to your whole outfit, especially if they were colorful like this one

I just love finding random artistic corners when it comes to shooting for the blog. I feel they add so much fun and personality to my outfit, and that’s what I felt when I found this cool “Garage” door in Gemmayze!

For this shoot I wanted to be fun and playful especially that my midi Zara skirt actually helps. I love how this relatively classic look was given a twist when you add your personality and the location.

Even if the sun is shining, and it’s officially Spring, that won’t stop me from wearing one of my favorite looks which is the “Black on Black” look, but I promise you to officially kick off the new season with much more colors and fun posts.

I would love to thank my dear friend/photographer Zahra Basma for always knowing exactly what I want and translating it into beautiful images!

February Favorites

February is almost over! My goal was to make monthly favorites on YouTube, but I guess it’s okay for now to have this month’s favorites on the blog, and hopefully starting next month you can see them on YouTube!

I really love watching or reading about monthly favorites. I learn about so many products, movies, books, makeup, and so many other things, and that’s why today I am sharing my favorites with you guys!

My February Favorites:

1) Knits

This month was the month of “Sweater Weather”. I am so glad I got to pick up these sweaters, and some other ones on sale, because it was freezing cold and I needed to feel extra warm and fuzzy!

2) Nail polish

This month I have also tried the Maybelline nail polish that I am really loving so far! Not much of a color variation like other brands, but it’s affordable and it lasts well.

3) Sunglasses

One of my favorite fashion items for this month was my new Zara sunnies. They go perfectly well with all my clothes for both Winter and Summer which makes me a happy kid!

4) Tea

I am what you define as a “Tea Obsessed” person! I could literally spend hours in the tea section at the supermarket just gazing at tea brands and flavors (not that we have so many lol). I have tried this Green Tea Mixed Berries flavor from Lipton and I really love it!!

5) Makeup

Now with makeup, I had more favorites but I decided to keep them for other articles or videos just to test them better and make sure that I really really love them!

Labello Lip Butter: This by far is the best lip product I have ever tried. I don’t usually have chapped lips, but this lip butter keeps my lips super soft, it smells so good, and it’s super affordable!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer: I was searching for a good concealer since I haven’t found the “it” concealer yet. I decided to give this brand a shot, and I am glad I did! I never ever had days and days of no makeup face, but this concealer is so good, it brightens up my eye area, and I feel like I don’t really need makeup!

-Garnier BB Cream: I have heard so many good things about this BB Cream so I decided to give it a try as well. It’s almost empty and I am definitely buying a new one! It has really good coverage and it looks so natural and soft + it’s also affordable (almost $10)

 – Maybelline Go Extreme Mascara: I have been wearing this mascara for a long time now (which shows how much it lasts) and I really love it! This drugstore brand certainly wins with mascara every time! I have received another Maybelline mascara as a gift so I have to try it, or else I would have certainly re-purchased this one! Excellent for everyday use.

6) Favorite TV Show:

I finished the best show of all time in January so I couldn’t not mention it in this post! Of course I am talking about Breaking Bad! Let me just tell you, that you would be doing yourself a favor if you watch it because you can’t just live without watching this series! It’s so intense, so brilliant, so addictive, and it truly deserves all the buzz! It’s prequel just started this month, “Better Call Saul”, so stay tuned for it might be on my favorites soon!

7) Favorite Song:

I obviously have so many songs to mention but I decided to choose only one song, Style by Taylor Swift, since its video clip was released this month!

8) Favorite Accessories

As if I needed one more item to confirm my obsession with Breaking Bad, here comes my “I am not in danger, I am the danger” earrings by Leonie Accessories, and this is one of the most famous quotes from the show! I also love this very simple gold and pearl bracelet that I got as a gift from my parents!

I hope you liked this months favorites, what are yours?

Handbags for Work

Hello everyone, today’s post might come in handy for all the ladies out there looking for the perfect handbag for work! Personally, when I search for a handbag for everyday use, I want something of great quality but still affordable. I also look for a handbag color that goes perfectly with almost anything I wear so that I won’t have to change bags everyday which could be a waste of time.

Today, I will be mentioning 6 handbags in all price ranges (some super affordable and some pricey) depending on the budget you have for your bag, so here I go:

1) Zara

This bag instantly reminded me on the Mansur Gavriel bags since they look the same haha! Yet, it looks super chic and the nude color goes with absolutely everything you wear, and the best part it’s big enough to fit all your things, even a laptop!

2) Charles & Keith

I love Charles & Keith bags! They have an excellent quality and beautiful designs especially for work! This bag comes in many bright colors and also black, but I chose this electric blue color because it also goes great with clothes, and because it’s good to shift from black and the basic colors every now and then. (This could be a great cheaper version of the Givenchy Antigona bag 🙂 )

3) Givenchy

This bag is on my must buy list, and I believe it’s staying on that list for a long time since it’s super expensive haha! If you have the budget to spend on a high end brand, I totally recommend this bag! It’s the perfect size to fit everything, and it is super chic!

4) Mansur Gavriel

If you are “Backpack Obsessed” like me, then this backpack is the one for you! It looks super chic and it’s also spacious. It comes in many bright colors as well, and the best part is that this brand is one of those affordable high end brands so it would be totally worth the splurge. (You can find a similar cheaper version at Zara)

5) Zara

This bag reminded me of the bags that men usually carry for business meetings. It has a beautiful structure that allows you to fit many things, you can carry it on your shoulders, and it’s affordable, so that’s a great combo! PS: it also comes in a super pretty brown color as well!

6) Celine

Yes, another must have bag on my list, and yes this one will have to wait too 😦 The Celine Trapeze bags have got to be one of my all time favorites! They are so chic and so spacious and so pretty, and I can go on and on! If you have the budget for it, this is another timeless classic that would do wonders to your outfit for every day!

Before I end this post I just wanted to give a tip for the petites ladies out there (just like me). While shopping for a handbag, make sure you don’t choose the over-sized ones, since they will make your body look shorter since they are too big for your figure. Always go for the medium sized bags that will make your body look great!

I hope you liked today’s post! Which one did you like the most?

Joie De La Vie

Hello everyone! Last Saturday, I teamed up with my dear friend and photographer Zahra Basma to shoot a new style look for the blog! I really fell in love with the results, and I think it’s one of my all time favorite style photo shoots 🙂

I really loved Zahra’s interpretation of my outfit and the general mood, she really knew exactly what I wanted in terms of photos! I went for a total black look with a twist in my knee high socks that I am obsessing over this season! I really think knee high socks can transform your look and give you an edge. I also decided to complete the look with my favorite winter accessory, of course the hat! 🙂 I think this look can work for a lunch, brunch, or maybe for afternoon drinks with your friends.

I actually did 2 looks with knee high socks to show you how to style this item in 2 different ways, so stay tuned for part 2 soon!!

I hope you enjoyed today’s photos, you can follow Zahra Basma on Instagram to check out her magnificent work!
