My Holy Grail Beauty Products

IMG_0395 edit .jpgAfter years of trial and error, I can finally say that I have a few Holy Grail products that I usually stick to for everyday use (and others for fancy occasions). In today’s YouTube video, I go over each product in detail and explain the reasons why they worked for me.

1- Vichy Ideal White Cleanser

I never believed in the power of a cleanser until I tried this one by Vichy. I always feel that my skin is super clean and refreshed after using it. I also like to texture of the liquid since it doesn’t come off as super soapy and foamy.

2- Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water

I swear by this product since forever! After trying many other brands, I do believe that this is the best Micellar water in the market since it cleans the eyes and the face in one swipe only. There’s a special discount happening now on Feel 22 for this brand, and you can also use my promo code for even more discount! What can I say it’s Christmas Time 😀 (link in the video’s description box)

3- Sephora Liquid Lipstick #13

I have mentioned this lipstick many times on the blog for an evident reason, I really can’t get over how perfect it is. The color, the texture, the longevity, and everything else about this lipstick is pure perfection! We sadly can’t have this product easily in Lebanon, but if you happen to know anyone who is coming from USA, Europe or the GCC, I highly advise you to ask them to get you that product with them.

4- L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Perfect Slim

This eyeliner really helped me in my “learning how to apply my winged liner” process. I still can’t do a perfect winged liner, but I can’t deny that this eyeliner helps it appear a 100 times better and more precise.

5- Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

I discovered this super high coverage foundation this summer when I had a couple of weddings and dinners to attend. If you’re looking for a long-lasting high coverage foundation, I highly recommend this one since it blends really well with the skin and it contains SPF!

My Experience with Keratin Hair Treatment

IMG_0050.JPG

Before I did my Keratin hair treatment, I asked many people who already went through the process so that I know if I should go for it or not. Now that my treatment is almost gone, I decided to write about my own experience and give you my honest feedback.

Before I move on with this post, if you have thin hair, straight hair (but you’re in denial), or extremely oily hair, don’t consider this treatment at all. Find an alternative with your hairdresser. If you have healthy thick tamed hair, count your blessings and please stop nagging ❤

I decided to go with the treatment since I was tired of styling my frizzy hair especially during summer time. I wanted my hair to be tamed and straight during the hot weather to avoid the styling hassle. I did the treatment back in May and the hairdresser told me that it’s supposed to last for about 5-6 months. My hair now is still straight, but wavy from the top since my hair is growing.

Keratin Hair Treatment Pros:

  • Saves time
  • Removes Frizz from hair
  • Doesn’t need styling or additional hair products
  • Lasts a long period of time (5-6 months)
  • Relatively affordable

However, every miraculous treatment has its Cons:

  • Increases hair-fall
  • Hair looks greasy during the 1st month
  • Hair needs to be washed more than usual
  • Increases split-ends

The Verdict:

I can’t deny that this treatment really saved my life this summer. If you have stubborn frizzy hair, I encourage you to try this treatment at least once. I don’t think I will re-do this treatment any time soon just because I feel the it involves a lot of chemicals, and I don’t want to be exposed to that regularly. However, I might do it again in summer if I felt the need.

Before I end this blog post I want to mention that I paid $100 for the treatment. Be warned, many hair salons are charging $300++ so make sure you ask around before you seal the deal.

My 3-Step Summer Morning Routine

IMG_0013 edit.jpg

Summer is a very tricky time of the year for me. I am usually very lazy when it comes to makeup and skincare, because let’s face it, we are all sweaty and irritated and we really don’t need extra layers on our faces. That being said, I developed an easy, simple, 3-step routine that takes about 2 mins and covers all the necessary basics.

1- Cleanser

I’ve been using the Vichy Ideal White cleanser for about 3 months now and I am loving the results. It’s super light-weight and the texture is so revitalizing which is something I really look for during the summer period. I haven’t had any breakouts from this product so I am guessing it is working well with my skin.

2- Toner

I recently went for a skin consultation session with Kiehl’s where they gave me this Toner to use everyday after my cleanser. This product with Iris Florentina Root Extract, is known for its deeply nourishing and anti-aging benefits to skin, so it helps prep your skin and moisturize it before you begin the morning or night routine.  I haven’t been using it for a long time, but I am incorporating it in my daily skincare routine so hopefully I’ll report back on this one.

IMG_0014 edit.jpg

3- SPF

This is probably the most important step in this whole routine. SPF is highly important in winter and summer and it’s a step that I never miss in my morning routine. I am currently using one by Avene which I absolutely love! You can also use other options that are tinted if you don’t like using foundation or BB cream.

IMG_0015edit.jpg

Extras:

There are obviously a few products that I occasionally use here and there such as the thermal water sprays to set my makeup and refresh my skin during the day. The 2 sprays I usually use are from Vichy and Avene. I also tend to use eye cream before concealer if I am feeling my skin is dry (I know I should be committing to that more often).

Hope you liked today’s post, what are your go to products for summer?

PS: I’ve added links for some of the products mentioned below so that you can shop my post and benefit from a discount!

Skin Care & Beauty Products We Need in Lebanon + Announcement

I guess by now we all agree that  we have limited skin care and beauty brands in Lebanon.

Personally, I am very eager to try many  products that are sadly not available here, so I decided to prepare a list of (some) of the brands that we need in Lebanon. Can we consider this as some sort of a petition? :-p

S K I N   C A R E

Fresh

I’ve heard so much about this brand especially their eye creams and face masks, so it would be nice to give them a try

Sunday Riley

Although this is probably one of the most over-priced brands in the market, I am still eager to try their facial oils

Pai

Another “YouTube made me buy it” brand that I am also willing to try

Hourglass

2 words: Marble Palette!

Tarte Cosmetics

Tarte was one of the brands that I really wanted to try until the best thing ever happened in Lebanon: Feel 22! I’ve already mentioned this website on the blog, but it’s basically a place where you can find many beauty brands that are not available in Lebanon like Tarte, Becca, Huda Beauty and many others. I already purchased the Tartelette in Bloom palette from Tarte and I am IN LOVE! Check out the website and use my promo code “LARASPEAKSSTYLEFEEL22” for a special discount

Bare Minerals

More beauty brands that I would love to test! I’ve recently spotted their lipsticks and I really liked all the nude shades

Honorable mentions: NARS, Glossier, Pixi, and Sarah Chapman

What are the brands that you wish we had in Lebanon?

No Label NGO x Pretty Little Box – Q&A

20161211_125657-edit

Last month, I was first introduced to Pretty Little Box through their beautiful L’Occitane edition. For the month of December, PLB released a new box in partnership with No Label NGO – an anti bullying NGO with a goal to raise awareness on this issue, and eventually create a bully-free environment.

For this occasion, I decided to have a small Q&A session with the founder of No Label, Nour El Assaad, so here we go!

20161211_125807-edit

1) When was No Label NGO founded and what was the inspiration?

It started on social media (facebook) and as a volunteer based movement in february 2014 but was officially registered in august 2015 as an NGO! The inspiration was my own personal story with bullying. I had a rough time being accepted back in school years and the topic of bullying was always an area of focus for me. When I graduated college and noticed that the amount of awareness on this topic was exactly the same of that of the 2000s I wanted to do something about it.

2)What are some challenges that you face while working on such a cause?

Willingness to continue on working on such a topic. There is interest by schools to create awareness but not prevention because it holds much responsibility and logistic issues. Also we have been facing the challenge of funding (grants) so we’ve been finding ways to be self-sustainable whether from our services or products (like no label by Lexy nail polish)

3) Why did you create this box in partnership with Pretty Little Box? Where you involved in the product selection process?

PLB wanted to give back to the community and choose an understated topic to highlight and no label popped up directly! (thank you PLB peeps for believing!) so it was really all about them from idea to products. We were lucky to have our Lexy product placed in the box as well!
4) If I am an individual who is undergoing any kind of bullying, where can I reach your NGO?

Our website (www.nolabelme.org) has an awesome resource page to learn more about the topic and what can you do! But to be honest we always receive messages on facebook about personal experiences which we would like to consider as our own help-line!

5) What are your upcoming plans for 2017?
We have big plans! We are rolling a product or 2, and we are being more on ground by exercising our services. We are launching our teacher training for creating bully free zones, parent meet-ups for parental dialogue while doing super fun things. Most importantly, we are doing soft-skills training for students up to 15 years old!

New In: Skin Care & Makeup

I am not a huge makeup freak, but I like to experiment with my look every now and then, especially lipsticks and recently eye shadows. Skin care on the other hand, has been a subject of experimentation for a long time now.

I decided to dedicate a post to my recent makeup and skin care (some purchased and some I received as a gift), with a small first impressions review.

S K I N   C A R E

1- Sephora Rose Face mask & Avocado Eye Mask

I haven’t tried both products yet, but I will surely keep you posted!

2- Bioderma Micellar Water, eye cream, and Sebium Global

Hands down, this brand is one of my all time favorites and I am a very loyal customer! Their Micellar Water is definitely the BEST in the market and worth every penny. I’ve also been trying their eye cream and so far I am loving it. The Sebium Global cream I use every now and then, whenever I have a breakout 20161119_105435-edit

3- Lexi Cosmetics Nail Polish & Cuticle Treatment

This is a new local brand and I am so happy with the quality of their nail polishes. Even their topcoat is amazing, dries my nails in a few seconds. What I loved even more about this brand is that they have specific shades dedicated to a great cause, so when you buy those shades, the proceeds go to the specified NGO (Examples like DSC & No Label)

4- Sephora Lip Stain #13 & Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

One of my favorite interns (Hi Zeina) told me about this Sephora lip stain, and I had to buy it as soon as I had a chance! Basically, it is the best lip color I’ve ever had in my life. No wonder it’s sold out all around the world

This concealer is a YouTube favorite to I had to give it a try. Sadly, it is not available in Lebanon 😦 It is perfect for everyday when you don’t want to overdo it with the makeup look, and it’s super pocket friendly

20161119_104248-edit

5- NUXE Multi Purpose Oil & The Body Shop White Musk Perfume Oil

I’ve heard so many great things about multi-purpose oil so I had to give this one a try. To be honest I don’t use it regularly, but I can tell you it’s not greasy at all and it smells divine.

The White Musk scent is one of my favorites although it’s considered as a controversial scent, you either love it or absolutely hate it. This one is an oil perfume and it can last you for a full day
